STANDARD, LIMITED EDITION,
& ARTIST PROOF PRINTS

Images come in a range of Standard, Limited Edition, and Artist Proof editions.  Standard Edition prints include images that have no maximum limit on the print run of those images. However, all work produced by Tristan Stuart, even, standard edition work is printed on the highest archival quality paper, with world leading inks. No work, regardless of edition type is intended as a form of ‘throw away consumerism’.

Limited Edition prints are highly worked and sought after images. These typically have a maximum print run of 100, although this varies according to projects.

Artist Proof prints are rare images that are the most highly developed and refined of all work produced by Tristan Stuart. A request for a ‘Statement of Value’ can be ordered from Tristan Stuart Photography. For the full details of Artist Proof work, click here.

All Limited Edition and Artist Proof prints come with a ‘Certificate of Authenticity’.  These certificates include un-replicatble wax signatures, in traditional sealing waxes used by the European royalty since the medieval period.

PRINT DIMENSIONS
Print dimensions come in a variety of sizes, however Tristan Stuart may recommend a size which most effectively displays the detail, and colour of images. However, images can be prepared in any size. If you have a preferred size you can include these dimensions in the 'request quote' form, or contact Tristan Stuart via the contact page with any requests.

All Limited Edition and Artist Proof artworks are accompanied with a certificate of authenticity.

FRAMING MATERIALS

Work is framed in a range of materials, however, all framing regardless of the produced uses only the highest quality materials. All frames use only archival matts, timbers, glues, tapes and glass. Framing is undertaken by Tristan Stuart personally, and a range of master framers both locally and nationally.

PRINT TECHNOLOGIES
The exact details of print technologies have taken over a decade of research and experimentation to establish and are a closely guarded secret. However, all images are printed with the latest technology using only the highest quality inkjet archival inks. These are far longer lasting than the more common lambda print alternatives. This enables exceptional colour luminosity and sharpness. These materials and technologies ensure well over 100 years of life expectancy in normal viewing conditions.

THE BANANA INDEX

*The Banana Index is a concept developed by Tristan Stuart to represent the logic of increasing value of artist work. This index does not bare any connection to contemporary economic theory, instead reflecting the artist’s conception of ‘market economics and art’.

Each sale of an Artist Proof leads to a 22% compound interest increase in the price of the proceeding edition numbers. This figure is formed by the novel invention of the ‘Banana Index’, that is, consumers frequently buy bananas (along with many other products) with credit cards that have a common interest rate of 21.49%. Certainly the value of art far exceeds the interest we’re willing to pay on a banana. Therefore 22% represents a value grater than that of the interest of a banana. This ensures that Artist Proofs have an intrinsic capacity to be investments.
